- Conditioning Dates - March 13th – 17th
- Event Timing Dates- March 20th -31st
- Parent meeting Thursday March 30th in person 5:30pm after practice
What should I have done ahead of time?
Signed up using a Fayette County Public Schools account email using the link to the google form, make sure I have at least a 2.0 GPA, verified an up to date KHSAA Sports Physical on file in the office.
What do I need to bring to practice?
make sure to have a mask, shorts and a t-shirt and running shoes, personal water bottle, probably a sports bag with a towel and hand sanitizer. They should be prepared to go outdoors and it may be cool, windy and rainy some days. So a hoodie, sweats, wind jacket etc. toboggan, gloves.
What if the Weather is bad?
We will not have the opportunity to come in the gym or indoors this season if it is heavy rain, thunderstorm or lightning we would have to cancel.
What can I expect this week for practice and tryouts?
We will have a week of conditioning to run and get in shape before timing. March 13th-17th
The following two weeks we will time and evaluate the athletes. March 20th-31st
We time the 100m dash, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1600m (mile)
We evaluate athletes for hurdles, jumps and throws, can they clear a hurdle safely?, how far can they jump horizontally with a running start?, and how far can they throw?
Staying/Coming to Practice
We start at 4:30pm. Busses are not provided for transportation for athletics.
How will meets go?
Meets start after Spring Break and are held at the various High Schools. Monday April 10th-Friday May 12th. Meets are usually M-W-and some Fridays. Meets start at 5:30pm and rolling schedule till about 8pm. There are 18 events and we usually do half of the events at a meet on A day and the other half on a B day. So 9 events. An individual can do up to 4 events. Sprints, Mid, Distance, Relays, Throws, Jumps.
